I'm Mad as Hell and I'm Not Going To Take It Anymore!

This link was posted onto Facebook by a friend of mine. It is pure bombast that this stuff goes on every day in all levels of government.
And yet, what I find most vile is the way it turns into a Republicans this, Democrats that kindergarten debate when we are missing the real issue.

Below is my reply to the childish and nonsensical back-biting replies:

Simply amazing, the game called politics. And the back and forth discourse here should prove to every person on each side of the aisle that BOTH sides are populated by people ONLY interested in KEEPING POWER and not good governance. Whether you bleed blue or red, don't you want your team to win because you believe they represent your best interests?
There will always be a political and philosophical divide between individuals and communities, this can never change in a democracy, but the role of government must remain constant.
Government at all levels is populated by people who intercede needlessly in the lives of its citizenry and it is clear they do so with one person and entity in mind that of themselves and their party.
Instead of engaging in divisive debate and rancorous verbal mud slinging, we should all be looking at cases like these that LITTER local papers all over the country and come together as one voice and say, NO MORE!
Somewhere, some time ago, in a moment of complacency and ignorance, someone sneaked in to the Library of Congress, whipped out the Gettysburg Address and rewrote Abe Lincoln's paraphrase of Theodore Parker's great quote to read: "A people of the government for the government by the government..."
Sounds wrong, doesn't it? So what are YOU going to do to change it?

Why do we allow bad behavior in government? Why do we simply shake our heads in disgust and smirk while accepting that this is just the way it is? How are so many so ignorant they are lead mindlessly to the flame by the few that take and hold power? How can these people destroy two centuries of constitutional doctrine while we sit by idly and wait for our next tax return check?

It is the same human instinct that leads to doping in sports. It is putting "I" above all else and leaving "We" and "Us" to die.

In politics as in sport, I say it is better to lose knowing you were honest and put forth maximum effort then to have won by cheating. But I guess I am clearly one of only few left who think like me. I wonder if the world will miss us when we are gone.

  1. Wait, am I getting lumped in with the "childish and nonsensical back-biting"? If so, then allow me to re-post as well:

"Bill, I don't disagree with you. In a perfect world, we (the parties) would be able to compete fairly and openly in the marketplace of ideas. Sadly, it's not a perfect world, and people on both sides of the aisle pull stunts like this "Tea Party" ploy in the pursuit of power.

"Democrat skulduggery does not excuse Republican shenanigans. But they do make it clear, as you said, and as I intended by my 'clean hands' comment [I said that nobody had them] that there is plenty of guilt to go around. I am bothered by the notion, express or implied, that Democrats have some kind of monopoly on virtue. They do not - nor does the GOP, or Libertarians, or Tea Partiers (real or fake) or any other party or group or human institution of any kind."
